i blame my co-worker for this one

yeah, this one has been on repeated play today. between said co-worker using it as part of his presentation to the company the other day about the financial update, and him emailing me the file of said song was just catnip for me because, well, the kind of week i’ve been having…

Where is the moment when needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue sky’s faded to grey
They tell me your passion’s gone away
And I don’t need no carrying on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life’s been way off line
You’re falling to pieces everytime
And I don’t need no carrying on

Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don’t need no carrying on

You had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
and the whole thing it turns out wrong
You might not make it back

and you know that you could be well oh that strong
And I’m not wrong

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You see what you like
And how does it feel one more time?
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

now playing: “bad day” ~ daniel powter

  1. Using those lyrics in a financial update doesn’t sound very promising. Don’t worry, NYFG, things can only get better with the weekend. And, it’s . . . Happy Bastille Day!

  2. another daniel powter……that song was good for one day….the it gets overplayed…dont you just hate that? It is a good song though and i definitely have it on my ipod. YES i am willing to admit to that 😉

  3. haha…said co-worker loves this song, so i wasnt surprised to see it pop up in the presentation. and he is a smartazz and that usually comes across in the quarterly finanacial presentations…not too much i want to go into here, but it was funny, and in some ways not funny.morrissey-now that is my one pet peeve with music and has been for years. and we have MTV and ClearChannel radio stations to thank for that.

  4. I really do like that song…though I knew of it before the radio stations got their hands on it, and since then I almost can’t listen to it because it’s being overplayed. I really like the video to it, have you seen it? I recommend it if you haven’t.

  5. LOL – I agree with Jon. That song is not a good omen for a Financial Update. Perhaps he your co-worker could have used “No Money” by The Apartments.
